Alexander Tutsek passed away

In September 2011, Mr Alexander Tutsek (Fig.), owner of the Refratechnik Group, passed away at the age of 84. With remarkable farsightedness, and under the new name “Refratechnik”, Alexander Tutsek expanded the original company “Steinwerke Feuerfest Karl Albert” – founded in 1950 – into a global enterprise with an annual turnover of about 400 million €, and 1500 employees worldwide. Today, Refratechnik is a world’s market leader in the field of basic bricks and turnkey installations in the cement industry, as well as systems provider, primarily in the steel and aluminium industries. Right to the end, Mr Tutsek acted as Chairman of the Board of Refratechnik Holding GmbH. Legal successors are the non-profit Alexander Tutsek Foundation and a family foundation. As the new shareholders, both foundations will ensure the company‘s future as intended by Alexander Tutsek. Business operations will be conducted by the companies Refratechnik Cement GmbH in Göttingen, Refratechnik Asia Ltd. in Hong Kong, Refratechnik Steel GmbH in Düsseldorf, and Baymag Inc. in Calgary, Canada. In this way, continuity of the Refratechnik Group will be ensured in all respects. Headed by Dr. Bernd Scheubel, Dr. Rainer Gaebel, and Silke Denecke, Refratechnik Holding GmbH will continue its monitoring & steering function for the Group’s operational and strategic orientation.
