How (and where) is the economy developing?

All companies active in the building materials production and plant construction address this question. The economic potential has to be determined and the market structure has to be analyzed before investing or expanding in any country. For example, a holistic, sector-spanning analysis is included in the “Atlas of Economic Complexity” (http://atlas.media.mit.edu/). There, not only the economic complexity of a country is quantified, but also a sustainable growth is predicted up to 2020 in many fields and for many countries, amongst others, China, Brazil, Mexico and India. Often the building materials sector is an important economic factor significantly influencing the economic development of a country.

The long-term goal of efficient and climate-compatible building materials production in a global environment, for example as called for at the climate summit in Durban, can only be implemented by optimum technology concepts and permanent modernization. For this reason, ZKG INTERNATIONAL has been addressing the problems of the global emerging and growth markets for many years. We will be doing so also in 2012: Special issues covering CHINA, SOUTH AMERICA, RUSSIA and INDIA will provide up-to-date information for the market and decision-makers as regards efficient plant technology, modernization measures, national and international standardization trends as well as cost saving and optimization potentials.
