We need a level playing field

So, the trick is not in making the cement, but rather in coping with the boundary conditions - prices, the environment, regulations. Cost leadership is our clearly declared aim, which is why we work hard at optimising our processes and at using our resources even more efficiently. The uncertainties around the surcharge imposed by the German Renewable Energy Sources Act cause us a lot of headaches. In addition, the stricter emission control regulation in Germany means that we will be burdened with significant extra costs in the future that we wouldn’t have at other locations. None of us would even think of moving production abroad if we can produce and supply here on a competitive basis. But for that we need a level playing field, and this just doesn’t exist at the moment!
