Customer-specific chain solution lowers portal scraper operating costs

At Märker Zement in Lauffen, the chain guide rails in the portal scraper for slag sand had only ever lasted six months. Considerable costs were incurred for plant downtime during the season and the replacement of the chain guide rails. Uwe Fabich, Operations Manager at Märker-Werke Lauffen and Harburg, was looking for a solution for trouble-free operation during the season and a longer lifetime for the chain guide rails.

At its sites in Harburg and Lauffen, Märker Zement produces Portland, Portland slag and Portland composite cements, blast furnace cements and cements for special applications, e.g. road surfacing cement, sulphate-resistant blast furnace cement, cement for concrete with high early strength for the prefabricated element sector, or hydraulic base course binder.
