The Future of Cement 2017

Under the patronage of the French National Commission for Unesco, sponsored by the Académie des sciences, the Académie des technologies and the fib (International Federation for Structural Concrete), the French cement industry and its main technical association ATILH, are holding an international scientific symposium, “The Future of Cement”, in Paris/France from 06.06.-08.06.2017.

The 200-year anniversary of the discovery of the laws of cement hydraulicity by Louis Vicat will offer academic and industrial research staff, professionals from the cement industry or from other construction sectors the opportunity to brush up on cement innovation.

The first half-day is dedicated to putting into historical perspective the consequences of this discovery on architecture, construction and materials science.

On the second day, the morning will be dedicated to cement process optimization and the afternoon to R&D, mostly concerning cement composition but concrete durability and transfer properties will also be presented.

The last morning will concentrate on concrete & sustainability, ranging from carbonation to LCA, recycling and specific applications. The afternoon will present unusual engineering trends and works before concluding with a special architectural lecture.

Held on the Unesco premises, the lectures will be in English with French translation available for the first and last half-days.
