Thermal conductivity

The calcination behavior of limestone, which is a natural raw material, depends strongly on the origin. In this multi-part series, the thermo-physical material properties of limestone and lime are analyzed. In the first part the specific heat capacities were discussed. In the second part the decomposition enthalpies and the decomposition pressure were analyzed. In the third part emissivities were studied. The present study focuses on the thermal conductivity.

1 Introduction

The calcination behavior of limestone, which is a natural raw material, depends strongly on the origin. In this multi-part series, the thermo-physical material properties of limestone and lime are analyzed.

In the first part of the series [1] the specific heat capacities were discussed. The values for different limestones only differed slightly, so that the variation can be considered negligible. In contrast, the specific heat capacities of the lime burnt from these limestones showed significant differences. These differences occur not only in the magnitude of the values but also...
