Aumund expands its position as supplier for the Turkish cement industry
The new construction of more than six million housing units to replace earthquake-prone ones, announced the previous year by governmental quarters, and the related investment of 400 billion US-Dollars boosts the cement demand in Turkey. Now as before, Turkey is the strongest cement producer in Europe
In 2014, Aumund Fördertechnik GmbH from Beckum/Germany delivered to Turkey some equipment such as a bucket apron conveyor with a centre distance of 94.6 m and a lifting height of 66 m to the Votorantim plant at Yozgat, a drag chain conveyor (capacity: 200 tph clinker) and two deep drawn pan conveyor with baffles (centre distance: 118 m, capacity: 200 tph clinker) to the Limak plant at Balikesir, and another deep drawn pan conveyor (c.d.: 47 m, cap.: 300 tph clinker) as well as a belt bucket elevator (c.d.: 56 m, cap.: 250 tph cement) to the Limak plant in Trakya. Furthermore, for feeding a new silo, Aumund delivered three more deep drawn pan conveyors with centre distances between 15 and 142.5 m and a capacity of 500 tpd clinker each to the Akcansa plant at Canakkale.
In February 2015 a comprehensive delivery for the Medcem cement terminal Yes˛ilovacık will follow: a chain bucket elevator (c.d.: 40 m, cap.: 750 tph clinker), two belt bucket elevators (c.d.: 13.5 and 83.5 m, cap.: 1000 tph cement), a double-strand bucket elevator (c.d.: 27 m, cap.: 1170 tons of coal per hour) as well as two Samson with a length of 7.50 m and a transport capacity of 375 tph clinker each. In addition, the customer ordered six telescopic loading spouts (200 tph clinker). After completion of the terminal and an investment of about 40 million US Dollar, Medcem will export clinker and cement.
As a result of the positive economic development and the huge construction projects in the country, the cement production registered a constant rise during the last couple of years. According to forecasts by the Turkish Association of Cement Producers, the cement production will grow to 99.8 million tons by 2023 due to the numerous planned construction projects.
According to information by the Turkish Ministry of Economy, presently 67 cement plants are in operation nationwide, including 19 cement mills and 48 integrated plants.
