Waste or/= raw material?

Dear Readers, In addition to one of the most important cement conferences, the IEEE in Las Vegas, the IFAT – the World‘s Leading Trade Fair for Water, Sewage, Waste and Raw Materials Management will take place in Munich at the end of May. It is also an interesting platform for ZKG Cement Lime Gypsum when it comes to the recycling of gypsum and gypsum building materials, for example, or the preparation of secondary fuels for firing in rotary kilns. Our cover story (from page 28) presents a project just realized at the Sanit-Trans company in Poland. Despite the difficult conditions against the background of the Corona pandemic, the VEZ 2500 TV and VEZ 2500 TT shredders from Vecoplan for the preparation of secondary fuels were delivered on time and the installation and commissioning also went smoothly.

In 2018 the IFAT had 3305 registered exhibitors from 58 countries, also this year’s IFAT presents a wide range of possibilities for the sustainable use and reprocessing of waste materials into secondary raw materials. The use of gypsum waste as a new source of raw materials, for example, is becoming increasingly important, especially in view of the dwindling use of lignite as a source of energy in Germany and the resulting minimal availability of FGD gypsum. Read more about IFAT and gypsum recycling starting on page 22 and page 43.

These are just a few of the highlights in this issue,
I wish you interesting reading
