Clay grinding with Pfeiffer MVR mill win Ivory Cost
for cement production
Gebr. Pfeiffer has received an order to supply an MVR 3070 R-2 vertical roller mill for clay grinding. The mill will be installed at the cement plant of Ciments de Côte d‘Ivoire (CIMCI) in Ivory Coast, where it will grind clay for the production of cements with calcined clay.
The order for Pfeiffer was placed by the Chinese general contractor CBMI, which will handle the EPC contract from CIMCI, a Yeshi Group company. CBMI will also contribute the clay suspension calcination plant, which is the largest plant of its kind in the world.
The innovative MVR vertical roller mill from Pfeiffer was also chosen for this green cement project. This highly efficient mill technology is an ideal addition to this ambitious project, supporting the cement industry‘s sustainability efforts.
The MVR 3070 R-2 vertical roller mill will grind 62 t/h of clay to a fineness of ≤ 10% R at 0.090 mm. The ground clay then passes through CBMI‘s suspension calcination plant and is subsequently used to substitute cement clinker in various types of cement. The use of cements with calcined clay drastically reduces production-related CO2 emissions.
This project is not only an important milestone for CIMCI and the region, but also a major step forward in the global effort to achieve more environmentally friendly and efficient cement production. Gebr. Pfeiffer is delighted to be able to contribute with its products to making the world a little greener for future generations.
The MVR mill is expected to go into operation at the end of 2026.
