The industries continue to evolve – even during the summer break
Dear readers,
Summer is here: a great opportunity to take a break and gather new strength for the rest of the year. For a visual “mini-vacation”, we invite you to enjoy the idyllic Swiss countryside on the cover of this double issue of ZKG 4-5/2025 – with a view of the Holcim cement plant Siggenthal in Würenlingen, which has been in operation for 113 years.
However, even during the summer break, developments in the cement, lime, and gypsum sectors continue as usual. In this issue of ZKG, Erik von Lützau, Gotthard Walter, and Sabine Flamme from the Institute for Infrastructure – Water – Resources – Environment at Münster University of Applied Sciences, discuss the “Potentials of material and energy recovery of ETICS waste with EPS in the cement plant” starting on p. 24, while Dr. Joachim Harder, OneStone Consulting, focuses on “The Future of Calcined Clay by 2035 and 2050” (from p. 32), and Olaf Köster, Michelle Rollié, and Christian Speith, thyssenkrupp Polysius GmbH, report on “The Górażdże modernization project” from p. 39.
One last word on our own behalf: Until August 26, 2025, we welcome your contributions to our annual “Green Challenge” special edition, which focuses on CO2 neutrality and decarbonization in the cement, lime, and gypsum industries.
