Dear Readers, I hope you have already looked at our cover page at the very back of the magazine? We, i.e. ZKG Cement Lime Gypsum, are celebrating an anniversary this year! Together with its predecessor magazine Zement, it has now been on the market for 111 years, with a short interruption. A nice number and a long time! And what drastic developments the magazine has been able to accompany ... many of the raw materials and fuels that are used today for the production of binders would have been unthinkable 100 years ago. Through continuous research, which was also always reported in detail in the ZKG, it was possible both to take advantage of scientific progress and to adapt to political situations and arrive at an increasingly sustainable production method. With the changes on the material side, plant engineering also had to adapt to the developments, and in this area energy efficiency was also increasingly refined. And the issue of recycling also became a massive cornerstone in the development and production of new binders. What a development the cement, lime and gypsum industries have undergone in over 100 years!
We want to celebrate that this year – with you as our readers, with our customers, and of course with our authors! In the course of the year, we will venture a detailed look back or two in our magazine and report on the history of our magazine. Be curious!
