(57) Methods and systems for the production of cement clinker, wherein an oxygen-containing gas, which has a proportion of 15 vol.% or less of nitrogen and a proportion of 50 vol.% or more of oxygen, is guided from a first section of the cooler directly adjoining the kiln head to the rotating kiln and optionally also guided to the calciner and wherein more than 50 vol.% (preferably more than 85 vol.%) of the gas flows supplied to the combustion processes in total consist of oxygen.
