1 Introduction
Germany is one of the leading producers of micron-ized and colloidal silica. Another important branch is the production of silicone oils, silicone resins and elastomers based on silanes and chlorosilanes as intermediate synthesis products. 8000-10 000 tonnes of siliceous filter residues (FR) are generated by each producer every year during the neutralization of the resulting waste water.
