VDI business development trip to Indonesia

On behalf of the Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie (BMWi) [Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy], a business development trip is being organized by the German-Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry EKONID (AHK), the German Asia-Pacific Business Association (OAV) and the Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau – Bau- und Bau-stoffmaschinen (VDMA) [Construction and Building Material Machine section of the German Machinery and Plant Manufacturing Association]. This trip, planned for the period 15.-18.06.2014, is intended for small and medium-sized German machine and plant engineering companies, and will particularly focus on the fields of construction machines, building material machines and special machines. By resolution of the German Parliament, this project is being subsidized by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy.

With its population of around 250 million inhabitants, Indonesia has the largest national economy in Southeast Asia. The Indonesian economy is extremely commodity-dependent, and even the country‘s exports predominantly consist of commodities. Traditionally, Indonesia only has a small machine construction sector. As few of the local manufacturers possess the necessary technical know-how, the demand for complex machines and plants has to be covered by importation. Furthermore, against the background that local companies have started to modernize existing machines and plants, German products are especially highly regarded and in demand.

Twelve small and medium-sized German companies from the machine and plant engineering sector have the opportunity to participate in the business development trip to Indonesia, and to present their products and services to representatives of local business, public authorities and multipliers. Prior to the trip, the AHK, the OAV and the VDMA offer the participants a detailled target market analysis, as well as compact individual information to ensure purposive preparation for entry into the Indonesian market. In addition, the AHK identifies potential Indonesian business partners, arranges individual appointments for business initiation discussions and accompanies the company representatives to the appointments. The business meetings with potential Indonesian partners provide an on-the-spot opportunity for the participants to sound out the possibilities for cooperation, and to conclude concrete business deals.

The participation fee depends on the size of the respective company and ranges between 500,- EUR and 1000,- EUR (gross). In addition to the fee, the participating companies bear the individual travelling and accommodation expenses.
