DBU promotes new process for the
reduction of carbon dioxide emissions
The Weimar-based IBU-tec advanced materials AG wants to reduce the CO2 emissions generated during the cement making process. “The carbon dioxide emissions are to be reduced by up to 40 % by means of a new manufacturing process”, underlined Dr. Fritz Brickwedde, Secretary General of the Federal German Foundation for the Environment (Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt – DBU). “The goal is to change the raw material basis of cement and to replace limestone by industrial waste”, explained Steffen Vogel, representative of the company. The DBU promotes the project with around 240 000 €.
