(57) The invention relates to a process enabling the use of alternative fuels, mainly the use of wastes materials or Refuse Derived Fuels (RDF) containing high chlorine content, in a kiln for clinker production, in particular Portland clinker production. The invention consists essentially in introducing in the kiln a required additive, namely sulfur, in order to reduce the evaporating rate of chlorine from the alternative fuels in the kiln and to fix it into clinker, so that build-ups, clogging, blockages and rings formation in the kiln due to the presence of these volatile chloride components are avoided.
