(57) System (100) for conveying and distributing limestone in pieces for use in vertical lime kilns having at least one vat (20, 201), comprising a hopper (1) for receiving limestone in pieces, a support structure (3) provided with wheels for linear displacement on a rail (4), to which the hopper (1) is fixed by means of a thrust bearing (5), two geared motors (6, 7) allowing the movement of the hopper (1), a valve (11) provided with a pair of plates (11‘, 11“) connected to a lower portion of the hopper (1), a pair of sealing bellows (13), positioned both at an inlet and at an outlet of the hopper (1). The first geared motor (6) is configured to allow rotation of the hopper (1) around one of its vertical axis through a toothed coupling (8) and each plate (11‘, 11“) of the pair of plates assumes an opening angle (a) between 0° and 120°, in order to guarantee a homogeneous distribution of limestone in pieces, within the volume of at least one vat (20, 20‘) of the vertical lime kiln.
