The cement industry meeting point

From 05.-08.06.2012, the cement world will gather, under the motto “The cement industry meeting point”, at the Hotel Estrel in Berlin, Germany, for the Refra Colloquium. With more than 760 participants from seventy-six countries, the 12th colloquium, held in 2008, provided the perfect opportunity for exchange of information, ideas and opinions. Awaiting the invitation-only audience at this year’s 13th event in the series is a broad spectrum of top-line papers on the latest developments and up-to-the-minute experience in refractory technology, presented by both developers and users.

The agenda is not restricted exclusively to refractory systems, however: trends on international markets and the effects of recent financial and banking crises on business in this important field were vital focuses of discussion at the last colloquium, and have certainly lost none of their topicality in the intervening four years. Papers on more general global economic themes, and a number specifically spotlighting the cement industry, will therefore also be on the agenda at this year’s event.

A representative social programme will provide a good opportunity for the attendees to build on what they had heard, to exchange information amongst colleagues and for networking. On 09.06.2012 the colloquium guests, along with the general public, will have the opportunity of seeing modern high-quality refractories production at first hand at Refratechnik’s Works No. 1, and of learning about new products in this sector at the company’s Göttingen headquarters.
