A TEC will install ReduChlor® Bypass in Switzerland

To reduce the chlorine content in the kiln system to allow an increase of the TSR (thermal substitution rate) in the kiln line of the cement plant in Eclépens/Switzerland, Holcim (Suisse) SA (a member of the Holcim Group) awarded A TEC a contract for the implementation of its innovative ReduChlor® Bypass. A TEC will also take care of the bypass dust handling and will modify the alternative fuel feeding system to the calciner.

The scope of supply for this order includes the whole engineering, supply and mechanical erection works incl. the required supervision services.

Holcim (Suisse) SA is one of the leading manufacturers of high quality cement in Switzerland. The plant in Eclépens has a capacity of 2150 t/d. By using the ReduChlor Bypass the plant will be able to use high rates of alternative fuels with elevated Cl content.

ReduChlor Bypass

Modern suspension preheater kilns frequently face substantial problems of coating by dust deposition in kiln riser ducts, meal pipes, ducts and cyclones due to excessive contents of chlorine (Cl) in the kiln system. A TEC’s bypass ReduChlor consists basically of a take-off chamber above the kiln inlet, specifically designed for each installation and a specially designed quenching chamber where the Cl condensates on and adheres to the fine dust particles. After this condensation process the Cl-enriched material is collected in a filter.
