Shree Cement Ltd. orders next generation MVR mill from Gebr. Pfeiffer

The economic effects of the Covid-19 pandemic are still felt worldwide, but it is important to look ahead, especially in times of crisis. This is also the philosophy of Shree Cement, one of the three largest cement producers in India. To expand its cement production, the company will thus build a new clinker line near Raipur in India. The raw meal mill and the coal mill have now been ordered from Gebr. Pfeiffer. They are the Pfeiffer VRM’s No. 35 and 36 for Shree Cement.

The new raw material mill type MVR 6000 R-6 is equipped with an installed drive power of 8700 kW and will produce 800 t/h of cement raw meal. This mill is the latest MVR development which is characterized by rollers according to the R=C principle. This means that the grinding rollers of this mill can be equipped with roller tires for raw meal grinding as well as for cement grinding, provided that they have been designed according to the same force module. This saves money, because the identical components of rollers, tensioning system, roller arms, etc. mean that customers can reduce their spare parts inventory, since the same spare parts can be used for a raw meal mill and for a cement mill.

Shree Cement already has many Pfeiffer mills of the size MVR 6000 C-6 and MVR 6000 R-6 in operation, which still correspond to the earlier design status. With a view to the future, the customer has nevertheless decided in favour of the latest generation of the MVR mill. Because, besides the R=C principle, an additional performance increase of at least 10% can now be realized compared to the previously used raw meal mill design, even though the ultramodern Pfeiffer MVR mill already had the highest performance density on the market.

Especially for grinding cement raw material, cement as well as granulated blast furnace slag, the MVR mill with its system of up to six actively redundant grinding rollers has proven itself to be the best choice. Furthermore, the high availability of the Pfeiffer mills was a decisive factor in the purchase decision.

The mill will be equipped with an SLS 6000 VR high-efficiency classifier, which has been optimally adapted to the MVR mill.

Some components of GPpro, the innovative and adaptive modular system, which combines the proven Pfeiffer machines with Industrie 4.0, will be part of the delivery. GPlink enables the customer to remotely access all his machine data and, in case the client allows access, to make use of the improved remote support of Gebr. Pfeiffer Service. A further component of the GPpro modular system is the dynamic water injection, which contributes to the sustainable protection of water resources and saves operating costs at the same time.

Another MPS 2800 BK mill will be supplied for the grinding of petroleum coke and/or coal.

This mill is equipped with a 720 kW drive unit as standard. In deviation from the pre-deliveries, the new coal mill will be equipped with the latest design of the integrated SLS 2900 BK high-efficiency classifier optimized for MPS mills. The coal mill will grind 28 t/h petroleum coke to a fineness of 1.5% R 90 µm.

While the core components of the mills as well as the drive units will be supplied by Gebr. Pfeiffer SE from Europe, the Indian subsidiary Gebr. Pfeiffer (India) Pvt. Ltd. will provide components such as the mill and classifier housings, the steel foundation parts as well as internal parts of the classifiers. In addition, the plant engineering and consulting services for the equipment to be provided by the customer are carried out at the office of Gebr. Pfeiffer (India) Pvt. Ltd. in Noida/India.
